The Meaning of your Dreams
Most Common Dreams and their meaning, The Meaning of your Dreams
Sigmund Freud, a psychoanalyst, described dreams as the royal road to the unconscious and suggested that by studying the obvious content of dreams, we could then bring to light the hidden and unconscious desires that lead to neurosis.
Analyzing dreams have become a source of both entertainment and self-reflection. While most modern theories of dreams would suggest that the answer is no, this hasn't stopped interpreters to identify what these common dream themes and symbols really mean.
Let's take a closer look at some of the most common dreams and what some of the most popular dream interpretation have to say about them.
Dreams About Losing Teeth
The experts greatly disagree on this one. Wallace views teeth as a symbol of power and confidence. This dream is supposedly a sign that something happened in the dreamer’s life that has caused him or her to lose confidence. According to Grant, teeth are a bad omen and represent a broken relationship. Lawrence has a Freudian answer to this dream. For women, she believes the dream is an example of wish-fulfillment—they want to become pregnant. For men, it is a desire for sexual stimulation.
Dreams About Dying
Death is another common subject of dreams and one that can be particularly disconcerting. Dreamers sometimes dream of the death of a loved one or even dream of dying themselves. Popular dream interpretations sometimes suggest that such dreams reflect anxiety about change or a fear of the unknown.
Lawrence’s interpretation is that this dream “reveals the wish to terminate something in life: a relationship, a job, a career path, or even the past.” Grant’s dictionary emphasizes that this dream is not necessarily a nightmare. Rather, he repeatedly states that it is a dream meant to encourage a person to embark on a new endeavor or fresh start.
Dreams about Being chased
Despite the nightmarish feel of this dream, Wallace considers it a positive sign. He believes that this dream is supposed to encourage the dreamer to finally face a problem that has been hanging over his or her head. This dream is more often in women than men.
Others say that It indicates that you are avoiding issues in your life instead of addressing them. May be, your brain is trying to send you the message that you need to address the problem.
Dreams about Flying
Wallace claims that the dream encourages a person to let go of current issues and allow things to ”fall naturally into place.” Similarly, flying is a sign that there is an out of control situation in real life, according to Grant.
Dreams about falling
These dreams signify anxiety and a loss of control in your waking life. According to Dream Dictionary, the falling dream happens the most frequently out of all the dreams we experience throughout our lifetime. It’s believed to be a sign that something in your life is spiraling out of control, whether that’s your job, your finances, your marriage or relationship.
Dream of the dead
This is serious- to see or talk to the dead in your dream forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people. On the other hand, it may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on. If you dream of a person who has died a long time ago, then it may suggest that a current situation or relationship in your life resembles the quality of that deceased person.
