Koreans are known for their perfect complexions- fair skin, no pores, silky smooth face that is many women (and also men!) who are interested on how to achieve that kind of beauty. Filipinos, most especially, are obsessed with K-Pop Culture, whether its music, fashion and also, skincare. Here is the most talked about 10-step Korean Skincare Routine that hits the internet by storm.

Step 1: Makeup Removal

It’s important to remove all traces of makeup because the ingredients in makeup can be inflammatory and can trap dirt and oil in the skin, which leads to breakouts and redness. You can use a makeup remover wipe, but NOT alone. Think of the wipes as a first step to break down makeup products, but you still need the second step of cleansing and rinsing to wash the gunk off.

Step 2: Cleanse (and Double Cleanse!)

Now that you have removed all traces of makeup, it’s time for the cleanse. Koreans use two types of cleansers:

OIL-BASED CLEANSER - Korean women typically use two cleansers, starting with an oil-based cleanser to remove oil-based makeup, SPF and other impurities (since water repels oil). This allows for effortless cleansing rather than tugging at your skin to remove that last bit of mascara.

WATER-BASED CLEANSER - Following with a water- based cleanser removes any remaining residue and leaves skin supple. The key is to find a gentle formula that won’t strip or dry out your skin.

Step 3: Exfoliate

You need to use a gentle, non-irritating exfoliator 2-3 times a week ONLY. Exfoliators promote cell turnover, unclog pores, allow better absorption and keep skin looking younger.

Step 4: Tone

Toner helped by restoring your skin’s natural pH, removing traces of oil, and helping to tighten pores. Toners also help the skin absorb the next products that you will apply.

Step 5: Serum

These products are formulated with active ingredients that target specific needs by skin type, such as fine lines, loss of firmness, hyperpigmentation and dehydration.

Step 6: Eye Cream

Smooth a light eye cream across both the brow and socket bone moving from the inner to outer corner of the eye. Here, the skin is at its thinnest as there are no sebaceous glands to produce natural oils, so it's important to keep this area hydrated and protected all day long.

Step 7: Sheet Mask

The benefit of sheet masks is an extra layer of hydration, enhanced by the fact that the mask provides occlusion. Besides, 20 minutes of sheet masking is the perfect amount of downtime for you to watch TV or listen to music, and just relax!

Step 8: Spot Treatment

This is where you would use your topical medications, whether that’s prescription strength medication for acne or rosacea or high-power ingredients like vitamin C.

Step 9: Moisturizer

This includes a thicker night cream for the face and one for the under eye area, which is especially thin and prone to wrinkling.

Step 10: Sunblock at Day time/ Sleeping Pack at Night

This helps to lock in all that hydration in your skin.

So, that’s it! The trending Korean Skincare Routine. Hope this will help you in your journey towards beautiful, younger looking skin.
